Yumebau studio – Simpson Foliage Kit
I was responsible for the creation and optimization of stylized foliage assets, including trees, plants, and hero vegetation (e.g. pine trees, large stylized plants, and crop-like foliage), designed for real-time production under strict performance constraints.
My work covered the full foliage pipeline, from blockout and shape language exploration to final in-engine integration. Assets were built using modular geometry and instancing, allowing for fast iteration, easy variation, and efficient memory usage across large environments.
I focused on:
Clear stylized silhouettes and readable shapes from gameplay distance
Optimized foliage cards and cutouts to balance visual density and polygon budget
Shared texture atlases and material reuse to reduce draw calls and improve consistency
Nanite-ready meshes with fallback versions, ensuring stability across platforms
Art-directed placement and scale aligned with gameplay and camera needs
This approach enabled the production of high-quality, scalable foliage sets that could be reused across multiple biomes and scenes, while maintaining strong artistic identity and real-time performance.
